Compact
West End High School, students, and parents participating
in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the No Child
Left Behind Act of 2001, agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the
entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for
improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and
parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve
the State’s high standards.
This school-student-parent compact is in effect during the school year___________.
PARENTS RIGHT-TO-KNOW:
Please be aware that parents may request, and the school will provide in a timely manner, information regarding the professional qualifications of your child’s classroom teacher(s) including the following:
Ø whether the teacher has met state qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction,
Ø whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provision status through which state qualifications or licensing criteria have been waived,
Ø the baccalaureate degree major of the teacher and any other graduate certification or degree held by the teacher, and the field of discipline of the certification or degree, and
Ø whether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.
SCHOOL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ø
align curriculum, instruction, and assessments
with the State of
Ø provide a safe, effective, and supportive learning environment,
Ø encourage parents to participate in decisions affecting their child’s education,
Ø provide appropriate instruction based on the individual needs of each child, and
Ø set high academic standards for student performance.
Ø Parent/Teacher Conference Day set once per school year
Ø Seventh Grade Open House
Ø Eighth Grade Parent Night
Ø STI Home
Ø Progress reports every three weeks
Ø Encourage regular communication between staff and parents
Ø Treat all parents with respect
Ø Provide an environment that welcomes parental participation
PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
We, as parents, will support our children’s learning in the following ways:
Ø monitor attendance,
Ø make sure homework is complete,
Ø
support all policies and procedures of
Ø serve, to the extent possible, on advisory groups, such as Title I advisory committees and parental involvement committees, and
Ø stay informed by promptly reading all notices from school or school district.
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
We, as students will share the responsibility to improve our academic achievement and achieve the State’s high standards. We will
Ø take responsibility for learning,
Ø compete and return assignments accurately and on time and ask for help when needed,
Ø respect the personal rights of others, and
Ø give to parents all notices and information supplied by the school.
