Welcome to 5th grade! I am looking forward to teaching your child and getting to know your family. This will be an exciting and fun-filled year for all of us.
I am aware that many times children are concerned about moving up to 5th grade. FYI, I am also a bit nervous. Just as the children may be meeting me for the first time, I also will be meeting new students along with their families. We will all be fine, care for each other, and be sad when the school year is over.
Expectations are high in 5th grade! My philosophy is that children thrive and learn best when the teacher sets high standards for herself and her students. Our goal will be to exceed everyone's expectations by being willing to work and keep on working.
I promise to do my best to make sure our classroom is a place where a positive learning enviornment will enable us to grow socially, emotionally, physically, and academically. Our classroom will provide an atmosphere that fosters problem solving skills, creativity, and communication skills.
Parents, your child and I will need your help to reach the goals we will set for this school year. Our communication throughout this year will be of major importance in developing a positive learning enviornment. When all involved are aware of our classroom rules, expectations, and routines a sense of trust develops. Following are means of daily communication between you and myself:
Agenda: Students copy homework assignments into their agendas
each class period. Please initial the agenda after the assignments
have been completed and checked.
Newsletter: Newsletters will be sent home periodically.
Conferences: Please call the school office to schedule a conference.
Class website: Weekly assignments, projects, and upcoming events
