Welcome to the Etowah County School System’s Internet site. I am glad to have this opportunity to share with you many exciting aspects of our system.

The Etowah County Schools are actively engaged in preparing students for the future.  The System consists of 22 schools, including a Career Technical Center and Special Education Learning Center, and is located in northeast Alabama in the Appalachian foothills.  The school board, administrators, teachers and staff have joined with the community to prepare the system’s 9,000 students for their future.  This team approach to education helps create a spirit that encourages all elements of the system to work toward excellence.  With well qualified, caring teachers in each school, our students have the opportunity to reach their full potential.  Educators in the system are continuously upgrading their certificates and attending professional development workshops.

The educational offering for our students is carefully designed to interface with needs of post-secondary institutions and potential employees.  All schools make use of community resources to enhance the educational opportunities for our children.  Business, industry, civic organizations, and private individuals contribute to the dynamic spirit of our schools by sharing their time and expertise.

As a result of a one percent sales tax, since 1997, the Etowah County School System has been involved in ambitious building and upgrade programs.  Phase one of the program was facility upgrades at all elementary and middle schools and was completed in the fall of 2003.  Phase two which began in the spring of 2004, includes the construction of five new high schools. The projected completion date of phase two is 2007, and at that time the Etowah County School System will have provided $74 million in new and/or updated facilities for students in Etowah County.

Hopefully, you can see that Etowah County Schools are “on the move.”We are very proud of our system, and I encourage you to visit in person or email us for further information.
